At City & Guilds we believe in the benefits of training. We know that when an organisation invests in its employees, it leads to increased quality of delivery, greater commercial benefits, and a loyal and more productive workforce.

We want to recognise and celebrate organisations which deliver outstanding training, learning and development programmes. That’s why in 2016 we created the Princess Royal Training Awards. In 2023 we are delighted to offer the opportunity to apply to all organisations based in Ireland.

Businesses don’t need to have any link or affiliation to City & Guilds in order to apply. Organisations just need to be able to show the impact that delivering internal training and development has had on their people and back on their business.

Completely free to enter from start to finish, the Awards are for you if you want to be recognised for your outstanding training programmes and join a network of 308 organisations who have already achieved the Award standard.

Benefits of applying

Applying for an Award provides you with the opportunity to reflect on everything your organisation has achieved

One-to-one tailored support is provided throughout the application process and detailed feedback is provided on applications which applicants describe as ‘invaluable, free consultancy’

61% of Award recipients have stated that achieving the Award has led to an increased investment in their L&D budget

If you achieve the standard you are invited to a high-profile Award Ceremony where you will be celebrated and presented with your Award

Award recipients are invited to join the Foundation Collective: a network of over 300 Award holders who believe in the huge value of training and development.

Who can apply?

The Awards are open to any private, public, or not-for-profit organisation operating in the UK and Ireland regardless of size or sector. You need to be able to prove that your outstanding training and skills development programmes have resulted in exceptional commercial benefits for the business. You should also be able to evidence how training and developing your staff and/or volunteers has had a positive impact.
