The Application Process

The application process for the Princess Royal Training Awards consists of an online application and a virtual visit from an Assessor.

Once you’ve submitted your online application, our Assessors will shortlist those selected for a virtual visit.

The application process

Application Process Timeline

The Princess Royal Training Awards are evidence-based awards and the application consists of three parts: an online application submitted with supporting evidence, a virtual visit from an Assessor, and a recommendation from the Assessor to HRH The Princess Royal.

Princess Royal Training Awards Application Timeline

The online application

The online application is made up of several sections so that the Assessor Team can find out more about your organisation, the training and development you are delivering and its resulting impact.

The main part of the online application is formed of six questions based on the Awards’ standards and criteria, which we call the Hallmarks. Visit About the Awards to find out more about the Hallmarks and how they work.

As the Awards are evidence-based, you are able to share supporting evidence alongside your application to showcase the work you are doing and the impact it is making.

The virtual visit

If the online application meets the Award standard, the next stage of the process is a virtual visit from the Assessor Team to speak to you and your colleagues. We call this stage the Application Review Process (ARP).

You are given advance notice that your application has progressed to the ARP stage and you are provided with further information as to what the Assessor Team would like to discuss in more detail. The ARP is an informal opportunity for organisations to expand further on the information provided in their online applications.

The recommendation from the Assessor to HRH

Following your ARP visit, the Assessor Team will compile a report and make a recommendation to HRH The Princess Royal on the status of your application. You will find out if you have been successful in mid-August.

The Award ceremony

Organisations that have been successful in their applications will be invited to a prestigious Award ceremony to receive their Awards and celebrate with other worthy recipients. Our Award ceremony, as well as the entire application process, has no cost to attend.

Register interest / apply

Register your interest and we will send you a link to the application form once the Awards are open for entry. If you register whilst applications are open we will send a link to the form immediately.

Help and Support options

We provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the online application process - no question is a silly question and we’re here to help through our web chat ad email support.

Draft application feedback

We also offer the opportunity to have a draft of your application reviewed by an Assessor for feedback. Due to its popularity, we have two dates you can opt in to receive this in 2024.

Application Support

From virtual and physical workshops so you can find out more about the Awards and the application process through to 30 minute tea and chat drop-in sessions, we’ve got an option that will work for you.
