The One Training Award with Royal Recognition

We believe that people make or break the success of a business. They are your most valuable asset and they deserve to be celebrated and recognised for their achievements.

That’s why City & Guilds Group has created the Princess Royal Training Awards. Free to enter, this is the One Award that Royally recognises your excellent training/learning and development and celebrates your people.

Now in its fourth year, the Awards have been an outstanding success and we have awarded over 100 UK businesses to date. In 2019 we are delighted to be able to offer businesses based in Australia & New Zealand the opportunity to apply for an Award.


Who can apply?


The Awards are open to any private, public or not-for-profit organisation operating in Australia & New Zealand regardless of size or sector. You need to be able to prove that your outstanding training and skills development programmes have resulted in exceptional commercial benefits for the business. You should also be able to evidence how training and developing your staff and/or volunteers has had a positive impact.

Benefits of the Awards

Applying for a Princess Royal Training Award will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on what you have achieved through your investment in training. We provide one-to-one support through the application process and all applicants receive detailed and tailored written feedback on their application, which has been described as ‘free consultancy’.

Achieving this prestigious Award allows you to be externally recognised for your achievements and sets you apart from your competitors. Recipients of the Award are invited to display the award logo on their websites, business and recruitment communications and products, bringing industry-wide recognition. You will also join the community of excellence providing access to a network of over 100 Award holders who, like you, believe in the huge value of training and development.


Award process

The first stage of the application process is to complete and submit an application form. We use three Hallmarks of Excellence as the criteria to evaluate applications. This ensures that all applications are assessed against the same rigorous standard. The application form and the supporting notes provide clear guidance on what the assessors are looking for.


If your application meets the criteria we will visit your organisation to hear more about your achievements, or you will receive a detailed feedback report. The Princess Royal Training Awards Commission will make the final decision about which organisations meet the Award’s standard of excellence.
